Critique of the Month - March

Happy March everyone!

I am happy to share that Carolina of Illuminession has offered one of her items for critique.  Her shop is full of gorgeous photography and she is looking for ways to improve her descriptions, views of her work, tags and any other helpful ideas that you may have for her.

She has submitted this breathtaking shot of the Golden Gate Bridge.

How would you like to see this item displayed?  Can you suggest something to draw views in the description?  Are there tags you could suggest?

Let's take a look and make this her most viewed item, shall we?

Go peeping!!

  1. Carolina - the first thing that I noticed (aside from the wonderful shot of the Golden Gate Bridge) is that you have no other views. You mentioned in your description that it is 5X7 inches.... can you maybe put it into a frame and show it on the wall, a shelf or table? I would like to see possibilities of where I might display it at home. If you post a picture of it in a frame you can always say in your description that the frame is not included. :-)

  2. Thanks so much for hosting me this week Karen :)

Mainly I'm concerned about my descriptions and overall presentation of my items. I'm currently taking an Indie Business workshop to figure out the number side of running my Etsy shop, but I'd also enjoy anyone else's thoughts about pricing as well! Thanks so much for doing this for me :)

  3. Hi Carolina!

Such a gorgeous photo - makes me want to run to San Francisco right now! My biggest tip for you is to use up all those spots for tags. You have 14 opportunities to connect with the right buyer by describing your work with tags - right now you are only using 3 of those opportunities. Think about the location, style, feel, colors - these all make great tags.

I'd also love to hear a little bit more about you and your inspiration in your item descriptions.

Oh and in terms of pricing, in my opinion anything under $10 is just not worth all the effort you put into not only creating the item but listing it on Etsy (photos, writing a description etc). If someone loves this photo and wants to own it, I don't think they will think twice about a $10 or even $30 price tag.

It's so great that you are volunteering your work and putting so much into the growth of your shop. I'm sure you'll get a lot out of this exercise!

    All the best,
    Danielle

  4. Hi Carolina,

Nice that you are on the hot seat!!! yeah!

Your fotos are really beautiful and illuminates any wall in a house.

I noticed that you just ship to United States. I think you should ship international. I bet all of people would love to buy.

Besides, I also agree that you should show the fotos in frame that is hang to the wall. It does make a difference.

    Take care,

    Gizecraft :0)
